Season 10

Tonight is the first of Season 10 for American Idol. Are you excited? I've got mixed emotions.

We've been Idol watchers since Season 2. Faithfully. Last season really had us wondering about the show, the judges, the contestants, etc. We just about lost interest and we were actually glad when the show was done in May.

This year is bringing quite a few changes - some good; some not so good (in my opinion). Here are some of my thoughts on a few of the changes I read about:

  • I've never been a fan of Randy, Jennifer Lopez or Steven Tyler. So as far as the judges go, I'll just have to be patient.

  • They have lowered the age limit from 16 to 15. Not so sure about this change.

  • They have moved the air days to Wednesday and Thursday. That doesn't really bother me.

  • They are not picking 6 guys and 6 girls to make up the top 12. They are simply picking the TOP 12. I LOVE this and feel it should have been this way all along.

What about you? Are you and Idol fan? Are you looking forward to the start of Season 10?

Day Off

Today I have the day off to be with Olivia (no school - MLK Day). This is what we plan on doing:

Go sledding
Go out to lunch at CiCi's Pizza
Do a little shopping

Do you have the day off? What are your plans? Anything exciting?

Blizzardy Conditions

Today in Northern Indiana we are under a winter weather advisory. Considering the fact we have gotten about 24" of snow and are predicted to get at least 12" more by tomorrow, I can certainly understand.

Pictures tell wonderful stories, so here's my story:

Our Front Yard

Looking out from our garage across the yard

Our driveway from inside the garage

Our birdfeeder in the backyard

Double Subject

So, it's been a few days since I've blogged and believe it or not, I've got 2 subjects I want to touch on:

1) Recently I was watching a repeat of the Oprah show and one of the guest stars was Shaun Cassidy. He was to me 30 years ago as Justin Bieber is to my daughter today. He was my dream boat, my heart throb and my everything back then. As a matter of fact, my very first concert was one of Shaun's in the late 70's when I was about 11 or 12. I remember it so well and thought it was amazing. I had the magazines, the albums (and knew the words to every song), the posters, the clothes, the notebooks, etc.

What a great trip down memory lane that was for me.

2) This past weekend marked my 20th Anniversary at my place of employment. As hard as it is to believe, it's kind of amazing if I do say so myself. In today's day and age, it's almost unheard of.

When I started, the owner created a part-time position for me which was so appreciated. After 5 months, I was offered full time employment on 1/2/91 and have been there ever since. Other then the General Manager, I have the most seniority of all the employees.

I love my job and plan to stay as long as they'll have me!
