No way...it can't be

Sorry, but there is NO WAY that January is basically over already. Didn't we just ring in 2012? Didn't we just make New Year's resolutions/goals? Man, the older I get, the faster time flies.

How about you? Do you find it hard to believe that we're already one month into the new year? Did this month go as fast for you as it did for me?

Just think, in a few short months it will be Spring! I'm sure it will be here before we know it.

Happy February fellow bloggers!

Busy Weekend

Ever have one of those weekends where you are just jam packed with things to do? Well, I had one this past weekend. Even though it was non-stop, it was super fun. Here's how my weekend went down:

  • Friday morning: Breakfast with my good friend Susan. Well, breakfast that lasted a little over 3 hours. We pretty much went straight from breakfast to lunch but didn't stay to eat (haha)
  • Friday afternoon: the funeral for my aunt and errand running for a birthday party later in the weekend
  • Friday evening: Nothing

  • Saturday morning: Getting sweet Leighton to babysit
  • Saturday afternoon: Taking Leighton home and running more errands for the birthday party planned for Sunday
  • Saturday evening: A super duper fun night out playing trivia. Now, our team didn't do so well. Actually, we didn't do well at ALL. We came in last place. We just shook it off because it didn't matter that we didn't win. The company and food was way more important than winning!
  • Sunday morning: Straighten up the house for company
  • Sunday afternoon: Celebrated my step-daughter's 21st birthday with 14 family members. I made a wonderful brunch consisting of egg casserole, waffles, danish and fresh fruit
  • Sunday evening: Ran a few errands while Olivia was at youth group with a friend. After that it was time to relax and get ready for the work week.

How about you? Did you have a fun filled/jam packed weekend or was it laid back and simple? Regardless, I hope you enjoyed it.

Snow!

For northern Indiana, we've had very little snow fall so far this winter. Many, including myself and my husband, are happy about this. Others, like my daughter and nephew, are not so happy. Tom and I hate shoveling/snowblowing and driving in it. Olivia and Evan like to play in it and ride snowmobiles. Oh, to be a kid again!!

According to our local weather teams, that is about to change.

For some areas around us, they are calling for 5 to 13 inches of that white stuff. Other areas are only expecting about 2 to 6 inches. Sometimes in our area, the snow prediction is a system going through our area, other times it is lake effect due to us being so close to Lake Michigan. (This is when it's not so nice to be close to the water. In the summer YES...in the winter NO.)

How about you? Do you live in an area that gets snow or do you live in an area that is green all the time?

Goals

One thing I want to do this weekend is make a list of goals I would like to accomplish around the house this year. It doesn't matter if things get done in January or December; I just want them done.

What I plan on doing is walking room to room with a notebook and pen (yes, the old fashion way) making notes of what I would like to do in each room. For example: when I get to my little laundry room I will make note that I want to paint it and put up some cute laundry themed decorations. When I get to my 1/2 bath, I'll make a note to remove the dark green wallpaper that is in bad shape and simple paint the walls the same color green. See, stuff like that.

Believe it or not, I'm anxious to do this. I know I'll be overwhelmed when the list is finished, but that's ok. I have a feeling I'll also be surprised at how many little things-that don't cost money-could have been done long, long ago.

Oh, and in addition to making a list of things around the house, I also want to make a list of things I would personally like to accomplish this year. The first thing on the list is going to be learning how to sew. I bought myself a sewing machine on Black Friday and it's still in the box. Years and years ago when I was about my daughter's age, I learned how to sew in 4-H. I'm sure it will come back to me once I get started, but it's just the "getting started" that I'm struggling with.

Anyway, I'll keep you posted as I work toward this/these goals. I'd love to share my success with the blogging world.

Until next time....

One/Two/One Two

I hope the first day of the New Year was good to you. So far, so good for me.

Lots and lots of snow is falling now. It's winter, and in Northern Indiana it's to be expected. My daughter is thrilled. She L~O~V~E~S the snow! Silly girl!

I'm goofy but I think today's date is kinda cool and wanted to type it out.
1/2/12 (one/two/one two)

I told myself I wasn't going to make any new year's resolutions because I NEVER keep them. NEVER. Instead, I think I'll come up with some goals to work toward. That will make me feel better about myself without feeling like a total failure when my resolutions get put aside.

How about you? Did you make any resolutions? Best of luck to you!

Here's to a Happy 2012! Happy New Year!
